EL CHICO HEADS THE LIST Placed First in J. B. Campbells Two-Year-OId Handicap With 126 Pounds Eighty Thirty Next. NEW YORK, N. Y., Dec. 13. Jack Campbell followed the trend of general handicapping opinion when he made El Chico "high horse" in his Experimental Handicap on the two-year-olds of 1938. In it he appears to be adhering closely to the form shown by these youngsters instead of attempting to predict how they will shape up in competition during 1939. No one can: quibble over his selection of William Zieg-lers unbeaten El Chico as best of the 100 rated, nor will there be many to dispute his rating of Eight Thirty. The first-named son of John P. Grier has been assigned 126 pounds, with George Wideners sturdy and consistent Pilate colt a scant two pounds away. In that position he is deadlocked with Johnstown, a colt which did not always run to his top figures. Porters Mite ia rated the same as Xalapa Clown and Chal-ledon, each of the three being weighted with 122 pounds. Inscoelda was the queen of the fillies with The Jockey Club handicapper, her 116-pound assignment being four higher than that o.f Big Hurry. The latter won the richest stake race of all, the Selima, where racing luck enabled her to beat the Insco miss. The general record of the latter entitled her to the preference.
