1 TROPICAL PARK TURF NOTES g Tom Thorp came in from New York today to take up his duties as steward at Tropical Park. Thorp is well known in football circles, being a one-time Ail-American and for many seasons a gridiron official of note. He has. refereed at the Orange Bowl games in Miami since their beginning, and last Sunday officiated at the New York Giants-Green Bay Packers professional championship final at the Polo grounds in New York. William L. Brann, owner of Challedon, three-time Futurity winner during the fall, will be among the Tropical Park boxhblders. At present, he is vacationing at Boynton, Fla., lying some thirty-odd miles north of Miami. Racing secretary Bob Shelley will attempt to speed up the races at Tropical Park during the coming meeting, hoping for a twenty-minute interval between each event. Alfred Robertson, who has been with the Milky Way Farm outfit of Mrs. Ethel V. Mars, since he left the employ of C. V. Whitney, will ride in Miami this winter for the first time in three seasons. This young man owns a home in the city, purchased shortly after his marriage. John Patton, new Tropical Park treasurer, and Abe Allenberg, comptroller of the Gables Association, have their departments fully organized for business. The first named represents the Chicago interests in the property, the other the holdings of Frank Erick-son. Ernie Hart has resigned as trainer for the Snow White Stable, and J. G. "Bully" Wag-non has taken over the nineteen horses owned by Peter F. Gene of New York City. Ten are useful season performers, with nine unnamed yearlings completing the group.
