1 LOUISVILLE TURF NOTES I g. F. C. Podesta transferred the two-year-old filly, Valdina Lass, to Keeneland, Monday, to fulfill an engagement on Wednesday at that point. Following the race, the daughter of Brilliant will be returned to Churchill Downs, where the remainder of the Memphis-owned stable is quartered. Twin foals dropped by Frank P. Letelliers Marie Jean at Golden Maxim farm here, died, it was reported by the New Orleans turfman. Marie Jean had been bred to Gay Monarch. Robert McGarvey brought back Exvola and Down Pillow, which triumphed in their only engagements at Keeneland, and made preparations to transfer two others to the Lexington course. Exvola is a three-year-old and Downy Pillow a juvenile. Patrick Welsh, chairman of the local Democratic committee, succumbed to a heart attack here Sunday morning. His many close friends and acquaintances in the racing fraternity, were grieved to learn of the sudden passing of the popular and prominent Louisville politician. L. C. Bogenschutz, Keeneland placing judge, who serves in a similar capacity at Churchill Downs, was in Louisville for a brief visit, returning to Lexington to resume his duties on Tuesday. Bogenschutz is accepting registrations for Churchill Downs at Keeneland, and reports registrations are being filed steadily by horsemen who move over to the Falls City. Blue Dragon, a four-year-old brown colt, owned by Leo Beyda, of Chicago, .which contracted an ailment en route from Oaklawn Park to Churchill Downs, died here Sunday, it was reported by William Causey.
