BEULAH INAUGURAL SATURDAY Workouts Have Been Conducted Over Muddy or Heavy Track. Ohio Fans Keeping Watchful Eye on the Weather Many Special Features During First Week. COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 18. With the only doubtful issue being the weather, Beu-lah Park welcomes the mid-western racing season Saturday when a twenty-five day meeting gets under way at the Grove City course. Beulah fans are casting a weather eye toward the sky as the meeting approaches. Central Ohio has had rain in abundance for the past week, and workouts at the course have been conducted over a heavy or muddy track. A number of special events have been lined up for the meeting, and these will include the personal appearances of Joan Davis, film comedienne, and Benny Goodman, orchestra leader. INAUGURAL HANDICAP. The feature contest of Saturdays opening ; program will be the Inaugural Handicap at one mile. On Monday, April 24, the head-liner of the eight-race program will be the O. G. "Chic" Ranke Purse. April 24 also will be the first Ladies Day of the meeting. The Cronins Corner Cafe Purse is sched- j uled for Tuesday, April 25, while the Mobil- j gas Purse will be run Thursday, April 27, and the Berwick Grill Purse Friday, April 28.
