CHALLAMORE, away swiftly, went into a short lead immediately, was hard urged while saving ground and, responding gamely, drew out slowly in the closing eighth. PONEMAH followed abreast of the winner to the stretch, then tired in the last eighth. GOOD RECEPTION raced in the first flight and held on well, although no threat to the first two. CORSICA stumbled several times in the slippery footing and was unable to threaten. DANS FOLLY could not get to the leaders and was best of the others. CONDILLAC was outrun and went evenly. BILLY BEE, placed on the outside for the start after acting fractiously, was away forwardly to follow in pursuit of THE LAKE and, responding readily when lightly shaken up in the stretch run, assumed command in the last eighth and drew out smartly at the end. THE LAKE had good speed to set the pace; but was no match for the winner. ODDESA LAD held on gamely to the finish. TRICKWICK moved up steadily. SACHEM finished strongly after starting slowly. NANSEMOND raced close up, but was not good enough. VOTE BOY sprawled repeatedly in the footing. ROCKY MEADOW did not fancy the going. LULA KHAY-YAM showed earlv sneed. CALAMEGA tired. PHARA BELLE, at home in the footing, moved to the front at once" and, stalling off challenges from MADFOOT, swung out into the firmer footing entering the stretch and was shaken up stoutly to withstand GENERAL MOWLEE. The latter worked his way up on the outside and finished courageously. BANNER GIRL, prominent during the running, made several bids and held on well while racing on the inside. GREEDAN did not threaten. MODERN AGE tired after half a mile. DARBY DU would not extend himself. MISS FIX IT was never a threat. MADFOOT showed much early speed, but tired badly. CAROUSE was outrun. OCEAN ROLL was strongly urged from the start, fell back on the turn, but continued to save ground and came again in the late stages. INFIDOX, steadied back of the leaders, came to the outside when making his run, but tired after making a weak bid. DRIFT ALONG raced below her true form. HIGH HEDGE, hustled along from the start, tired in the final three-sfxteenths after being taken wide into the stretch. CACODEMON trailed throughout. FIGHT BACK, rated close to the winner, challenged gamely in the last half mile and continued gamely to the finish. LADY ROMA, kept in the heavier footing on the inside for seven-eighths, failed to rally when taken out in the last five-sixteenths. NEW DEAL could not threaten when placed to a drive. JUNE O. was close up for three-quarters, then tired. HAPPY ROAD was steadied along in contention, but was not good enough when shaken up. MORALIST was outrun and passed tiring horses. ITALIAN HARRY had no mishaps. BOERALICE tired. WAR RUMOR quit. CHIEF EVERGREEN was never a factor. ANGUS raced wide.
