LOUIS THINKS ROPERS TOUGH LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 18 "I cant see how Tony Galento or anyone else can come any tougher than Jack Roper was last night." Even though he did polish off Roper in two minutes and twenty seconds at Wrig-ley Field, thats how Joe Louis felt about his opponent today. He had a tender nose, the result of one of Ropers left hooks. "Yes sir," Louis drawled, "that was some punch. I certainly knew he hit me. Roper hit me harder than any man since my first Schmeling fight." The Brown Bomber declared that in Ropers brief flurry of punches he was momentarily stunned. As for Roper, he didnt have much to say. He took his defeat with good grace, extending his hand to Louis as the champion left the ring. "Gimme a shake, Muscle," he grinned wryly. Then the reporters gathered around him. He declared, without malice: "Dont let anybody tell you that guy cant hit."
