YEARLING JUDGING CONTEST Fourteen Fillies and Thirteen Colts Named for Keeneland Show Foreign Filly Eligible. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 18. Fourteen fillies have been entered by Kentucky breeders in the first division of the annual yearling judging contest conducted by The Thoroughbred Club of America in the Keeneland paddock. The fillies -will be shown in the paddock Wednesday. For the first time since the contest was I inaugurated in 1937 an imported filly will be included in the field. Louis Lee Haggin II., master of Sycamore Farm has entered a bay daughter of Royal Dancer and Her Grace. This is one of several yearlings w.ich young Haggin and Hal Price Headley bought in England several months ago. Other breeders who have entered fillies in the contest include C. V. Whitney, J. L. Cleveland, John Hay Whitney, Mrs. C. S. Payson, R. A. Fairbairn, Thomas Piatt, E. Gay Drake, Col. Phil T. Chinn, and Dan Mid-kiff. The yearlings will be shown with their pedigrees and the judging will be open to the public. The colts will be shown on Friday. Thirteen have been entered. Both the fillies and colts will be brought to the paddock at noon on their respective days and will remain on show in the paddock until 1:30 oclock. On Friday, Walter L. Hunt, of Cleveland, Ohio, j will, be a special guest of the track and will receive his prize as winner of the 1937 judging contest. Hunt named Sweet Patrice as his first choice in 1937 and that daughter of Halcyon won more than 4,000 last year at two, to lead all the yearlings in the contest. William M. King, manager of the George D. Wideners Old Kenney Farm was the only participant in the thoroughbred clubs closed contest who named Sweet Patrice, which was Bhown by Thomas Piatt, of Brookdale Farm.
