MARS DERBY HORSES WORK Four of the Seven Nominees From Chicago Stable Given Trials Over Slow Track at Keeneland. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 18 Four of the seven three-year-olds Mrs. Ethel V. Mars nominated for the Kentucky Derby; Timeful and Syracus, hopes of-Theodore E. Mueller, and Shandon Farm, respectively, were seen in useful trials over a slow track at Keeneland this morning. Sports Writer was the rnly one of the sextet to be indulged in a mile drive and he accomplished it in 1:44. His time for six furlongs was 1:17. On Location, No Competition and Rule All ran six furlongs each. On Locations time of 1:17 was best. No Competition and Rule All were clocked in 1:18. Syracuse, which lost a bandage in his local debut, breezed six furlongs in 1:17 and Timeful was timed the same distance in 1:19.
