1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES | s $ Thomas Worden, widely known Chicagoan, came from the Windy City to join the party of Herbert M. Woolf. David W. and Mrs. Butler and Mr. and Mrs. William Conselman, who have been in Kentucky for several days, motored from Frankfort for the opening program. Mr. Butler directed the motion picture, Kentucky, and many of the pictures scenes were shot at Churchill Downs. The handicapping combination pool conducted at Churchill Downs this spring will be offered daily through next Thursday, and then will be dropped until the following Monday, after which it will be offered daily to the end of the meeting. William E. Smith, member of the state racing commission and owner of a string of thoroughbreds, was an early morning visitor, to the stables housing Challedon a~d Por ters Mite. He was impressed with the appearance of both. The Universal Sound System has installed entirely new public address equipment at Churchill Downs, and it was in splendid working order for the opening. Roman, the fine juvenile prospect; Town Boy, Welding, Acquin, Carla and Bobbin arrived here from Lexington and were added to the stable D. E. Stewart will campaign at the Downs for Joseph E. Widener and Mrs. P. A. B. Widener. Trainer Ben A. Jones received Rifted Clouds and the two-year-old Rescued from the Woolford Farm in Kansas, and added them to the large stable he has in training at the Downs. The two juvenile fillies which R. T. Runnels received here several days ago for William H. Whitehouse are Sickle Simon and Sallie Kay, raised by Whitehouse, Sickle Si mon is a bay filly by Sickle and Marvel Dolores and Sallie Kay is a chestnut daughter of Haste and Elkay W.
