MAY YET AVOID WAR WASHINGTON, D. C. May 1.— Adolph Hitlers speech to the reich, while rejecting President Roosevelts peace conference proposal, definitely opened the way to British-German negotiations, which might bring a peaceful solution to Europes boundary problems. That is the opinion expressed today by Senator George, democrat of Georgia and affirmed by other members of congress who have studied the Reichfuehrers address of Friday. George, a member of the senates foreign relations committee and long a student of international relations and law, revealed his conviction in an interview today. "The Hitler speech," he said, "probably opens the way for further conversations between Great Britain and Germany. Great Britain, representing the European democracies, it seems to me, might find a way and method of approach through Hitlers speech to negotiations looking to the settlement without resort to war of the questions raised by Hitler in his specific statement of the purposes of the German government regarding Danzigs access to East Prussia through the Polish corridor and the rectification of the Polish boundary."
