1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES ! g = $ Emerson F. Woodward, owner of Valdina Farms, returned from Texas and expects to remain here the greater part of the meeting. Jockey Charles Landolt, who suffered a broken leg in a training accident a couple of weeks ago, was released from a local hospital Monday.- Friends of Carter Curtis, track superintendent at the Detroit Fair Grounds, will be pleased to learn that he is recovering from an attack of ptomaine poisoning. At first it was feared that he had suffered a heart attack. W. Gv Tanke, former owner, came here from Keeneland and plans to remain through the entire meeting. Trainer J. H. Janson of the Border Farm stable, transferred the following horses-from Lexington to Douglas Park Monday morning: Wacky Jack, Annabels Girl, Another Pal, Expert, Columbias Boy, Selma May, Oddesa Maid and Precious Toy. The latter, a two-year-old, is the property of Mrs. W. R. Hoffman. The horses that Fisk Waring has at Doug--las Park for Gould Shaw will be transferred to Delaware at the close of Churchill Downs and will remain in the East for the rest of the summer. Negotiations are being carried on for the purchase of the contract that Louis Matyas, Jr., holds on apprentice Johnny E. Oros, but the names of the parties interested in taking over Americas leading jockey were not divulged. Six of the two-year-olds in the Woodvale Farm string were transferred from Douglas Park to Churchill Downs Monday morning. The stable embraces Louise Frances, Russell McGee, Dora M., Florence M., Woodvale Lad and Chic Chic. Otto Bagley has divided the Blue Ridge Farm stable into three sections, having five quartered at Douglas Park, a like number at Fairmount Park and two stabled at Churchill Downs. On his return from Latonia, track superintendent Tom Young reported that improvements and repairing of the barns at the Milldale course is progressing rapidly. The three horses that Ken Cob brought from Lexington to Douglas Park for the C. C. Stable are Adelia B. and Compulsion, three-year-olds, "and the two-year-old filly Fair and Fast, a daughter of Whiskalong— Fair Rosalind. Jockey Nick Wall, who will have the mount on William Ziegler, Jr.s El Chico in the Kentucky Derby, will leave New York by plane Tuesday "or Wednesday. A party of twelve will accompany William Ziegler, Jr., from New York to view the running of the Derby. The New York sportsman and friends are due to arrive here Thursday. Former jockey J. D. Mooney, who rode Black Gold to victory in the Golden Jubilee Kentucky Derby in 1924, has returned to Louisville for the first in several years. He has the. plater Union stabled at Douglas Park. Jockey Warren Cornay has given a call on his services to Royce Martins Woodvale Stable. Fully recovered from the injury he sustained at Oaklawn Park, Alfred Robertson, contract rider for the Milky Way Farm, will return to the saddle Wednesday. Jockey Warren Yarberry, under engagement to the division of the J. E. Widener stable which D. E. Stewart has here, came in from Maryland. Tommy Root, who sent Brown Ben and Sink or Swim to Fairmount Park, received the two-year-olds Albert Jay and Jennie May from the same point. They are owned bv * C, W. Pershall. William J, Lynch, Chicago harbormaster, who has several horses in training here under J. P. Ebelhardt, got in and will remain until after the Derby.
