Paul Ebelhardt, arrived from the Wincy City and will remain for the Derby. Al Jolson, stage, screen and radio star, arrived from Los Angeles and will assist in the broadcast of the Kentucky Derby. Joe W. Brown, owner of the Derby horse, T. M. Dorsett, and Mrs. Brown arrived from New York to see the son of Cohort — Michigan Girl compete in the big event. Conn Smythe, owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team and who also maintains a stable of thoroughbreds, was an arrival from the Dominion. Edwin B. Cox, oil magnate of Dallas, accompanied by Mrs. Cox, increased the already large gathering of racing enthusiasts here from the Lone Star State. H. H. Temple, Sr., retired Lexington business man and an ardent patron of racing, forsook the Blue Grass region for a glimpse of the sixty-fifth running of the historic Derby. Mrs. Mamie Padras, Beaumont, Texas, philanthropist and social worker, joined the party being entertained by F. J. Demary, business man and turf patron, from the same city at the Downs. W. H. Whitehouse, Cincinnati, whose American Byrd recently was withdrawn from the Derby, is expected here Saturday to see the big race decided. The New Orleans delegation attending the Kentucky Derby included Placide Frigerio, prominent in Crescent City political circles and a stockholder in the Louisiana Jockey Club. Paul Carman, hotel operator of Washington Court House, Ohio, helped increase the number of delegates from the Buckeye State, putting in a day in advance of the running of the Derby. Mr. and Mrs. N. N. Kronenberg, of Shreveport, have been here several days, but will return home following the Derby.
