NICKY was ridden stoutly to race in the thick of contention, but Jailed to rally under punishment. MISS MAKER was caught in . tight quarters through the stretch run, but • finished gamely to be in a dead heat for fourth. HARD WAY had a rough trip. HARDY MISS was . roughed soon after the start, then bolted out badly on the turn to finish very wide. BUFFOON was outrun. CANTERUP and DANCE ON could ont threaten. • - ... DISTRACT raced in the thick of contention from the start and finished with good energy. PRINCE TURLEY opened up a wide lead in the first half mile, saved ground, but tired fast in the last oiehth. JAMES PAL was rushed to keep up with the leaders, but was unable to stay. GRAEME CRACKER closed stoutly from a slow beginning. FIRST FLING lost ground and raced well. EARLY TIMES passed tiring horses after trailing his field. ACE OF TRUMPS showed speed for five-eighths. FLAGABOUT was done after going throe-eighths. WILFRID G., haying a lot of speed and fencing nicely, shook off a bold challenge from OUR SAILOR at the eighth fenc, returned to the lead, was kept under strong urging and held SILVER LANCE safe after clearing the last jump. SILVER LANCE, reserved off the early pace, moved up to challenge the win1 ner at the twelfth jump, made several strong bids, then tired in the late stages when inclind to lug towards the inside of the winner. RIOTER raced close up, was shuffled back going to the tenth fence and could not threaten. OUR SAILOR was used up in the one and one-half miles and he tired badly. GOOD CHANCE fell at the tenth jump and BUCK LANGHORNE lost his rider at the eighth fence. Scratched— 73350 Paper Moon, 135; 68681 Sea Ted, 136. Overweight — Buck Langhorne, 1 pound. GRAND PAGEANT, as usual, outrun in the early racing, bettered her position stoutly when settled in stride, secured racing room on the inside when engaging the leaders, disposed of POST LUCK and drew out fast at the close. WISE SHINE had a lot of speed in the early running, forced a steady pace and continued gamely after dropping back midway of the stretch after making a wide turn. BULLET B. worked his way up on the outside, lost considerable ground, but finished with good courage. MODERN AGE raced well placed and ran well. POST LUCK was rated in front, but failed to stay when put to pressure. LADY SOLADE showed a good effort. GRAUSTARK began tiring after going a half mile. EBONY BLUE was unable to menace.
