COURT DANCE BLAZES TRAIL1 Turns in Front-Running Race to Win Mattapoisett Purse in Her First Start for Mrs. Denemark. PAWTUCKET, R. I., May 5.— Making her first appearance under silks since October , ■ .13, at Laurel, Md., Mrs. Emil Denemarks Court Dance, classy four-year-old daughter I i 1 of Jamestown, made every post a winning one to garner top honors in the Mattapoisett Purse, feature race of the afternoon at Narragansett Park. She was hard urged at the end to whip W. F. Mannaghs Chief Nadi by a half-length, with Gallant Stroke two lengths farther back in third position. Sep-time was next best of the field of seven which faced the starter. Mrs. Elmer Truemans Toddle On, also making her first appearance of the year, was made a slight favorite on the strength of a fast morning workout, but was never in the running. Court Dance, breaking in front, led by better than a length down the back stretch, pursued by Silk Mask and Chief Nadi. Silk Mask was hard pressed to maintain his position, giving way badly in the stretch after Gallant Stroke bore out slightly to shut the Rosedale Stable representative off. Chief Nadi, in the meantime, was gaining ground slowly on the outside and jockey Herman Schutte was forced to go to a hard drive in the final eighth-mile to get home a half-length ahead of the gelded son of King Nadi. The winner was second choice, and flashed a return to her best form in winning the Tace. The weather was the best of the meeting, and a good-sized crowd was on hand.
