1 BELMONT PARK TURF NOTES | At the suggestion of Washington and New Yorks city hall, Joseph E. Widener, president of the Westchester Racing Association, and Herbert Bayard Swope, chairman of the New York State Racing Commission, will entertain President Anastasio Somoza of Nicaragua and his official party at Belmont Park Tuesday. The South American leader is keenly interested in the thoroughbred and is recognized as one of the most enthusiastic supporters of racing in his country. Jerry Louchheim arrived from Philadelphia. John Sanford, Amsterdam, N. Y., owner and breeder, was among the arrivals and will remain for the meeting. Ira Gregory stated he will officiate at the barrier at the half-mile tracks in Maryland. Henry McDaniel received word from W. A. "Bill" Porter that he expects to arrive at Belmont Park next week. Porter is in Detroit. Eddie Austin, one of the old guard, was among the arrivals. Walter H. Hoffman, California owner and breeder, was a visitor. He returns to the Pacific Coast next Wednesday. Joe Boyle and Eddie Welsh forgot their spring plowing and joined the ranks of the regulars for the season. They announced in the same voice that farming was a tough way to make a living. Jockeys J. Stout and R. Donoso returned from Pimlico, where they rode in the Preak-ness. Jockey D. Meade returned from Pimlico, where he rode Volitant in the Preakness Saturday.
