1 FAIRM0UNT PARK NOTES I 0 — $ The second issue of condition books, embracing a period of six racing days, beginning Thursday, May 18, are in the hands of the printer and will be distributed Tuesday, May 16. Otto Grohs, youthful apprentice rider contracted to Lawrence W. Kidd, is setting the pace for veteran reinsmen and apprentices alike. Grohs leads the jockeys performing here with ten winning mounts in thirty-five races. Next to Grohs and in second place is another apprentice, William Cassity, who has ridden five of his mounts to victory. In third place is apprentice Dave Erb, with four winners, and tied in third place with Erb is the veteran rider, Leland Lake, with a like number of winners. L. H. Thompson was a late arrival, checking in from Beulah Park with the useful platers Legal Advice and Sweepogan. Apprentice Michael Pantone, whose contract was leased by W. A. Mikel from C. R. Parker, has rejoined the latter, original owner of the lads contract. Its quite a jump from a lad of ninety pounds to a behemoth of 220 pounds, but thats what the years have done for Eric Blind.
