DEEP SUMMER, under steadying reserve early while in closest chase of the pace established by TRANSLADY, took command when called upon, drawing out steadily through the stretch run. HIGH ARCH, well up all the way, came gamely in the stretch drive. DARK PALATINE, in close quarters early, fought her way clear and finished in resolute" fashion. CLOSE QUARTERS, away slowly, closed a big gap. TRANSLADY, quick to begin, displayed good speed in pacemaking, faltering during the last sixteenth. SUN PATTY, away slowly, encountered repeated interference. KANTAKA, prominent early, dropped back steadily through the stretch run. Scratched— 736911Minorca, 118. MACIE MARGARET was permitted to settle into her best stride and did not begin bettering her position until straightened out on the back stretch, moved to the leader readily when reaching the stretch and, overtaking PROUD KING, had to be placed under vigorous pressure and barely lasted to hold LADY HAV safe. The latter moved up steadily and, coming to the outside through the stretch, closed gamely and just failed to be along in time. FIDDLE FADDLE, slow to begin and far back early, moved into contention with a rush and came determinedly through the last three-sixteenths. PROUD KING moved up gamely on the inside down the back stretch, moved into an easy lead and tired under pressure through the last eighth. FIRE BALL made up some ground. BUTTERMAN was rushed up fast after beginning slowly and retired steadily during, the last three-eighths. SIX FLAGS quit. Overweight — Charming, 1 pound-. THIRD RACE 3-4 MH/E Out of Chute. IDLE SUN, in the thick of contention from the opening sixteenth, drew clear after leaving the back stretch, opened up a safe load when reaching the stretch, but was roused several times through the closing eighth, although never seriously threatened. DISTRACTIBLE, restrained for the opening five sixteenths, moved up steadily when closed upon and held on willingly in the stretch drive. OZARK, slow to begin and unable to keep pace early, came in determined fashion through the strckh run. PHALASAN had good early speed, but was unable to keep up during the last three-eighths. APPREHEND was unable to keep up. CROWNING GLORY was well placed when he suffered sharp interference nearing the far turn and was knocked back badly. CLEANING TIME had early speed. MIXWELL had speed from the outset, disposed of ADDIS, drew into a good lead, met determined opposition from MINIMUM through the stretch run and held him safe to the end. MINIMUM moved up steadily when called upon, made a determined effort to reach the leader and, while rc«pnndine camelv to pressure, was not quite good enough. DINNER JACKET dropped back after rounding the" far turn made a game effort to reach the leaders through the stretch and was going gamely at the close ADDIS well placed all the way, tired under pressure through the late stages. HOLLUSCHICKIE, away fast, but lacking speed to maintain bis position early, dropped far out and did not start to give improved speed until the last three eighths, moved to the front with a rush after saving ground into the stretch and held sway to the close. SILENT WITNESS worked his way up on the outside approaching the far turn, bore out badly when straightening out in the stretch and closed fast out beyond the middle of the track. ROMAN LADY, under slight reserve while in pursuit of the pace, came-willingly through the stretch run. SWAHILI, much used in chasing the pace of GALLANT STROKE for the first three-quarters, flattened out when reaching the stretch. GALLANT STROKE displayed good speed for the first three-quarters, tiring thereafter. POLLY HASTINGS, well up early, dropped back badly and showed a dull effort. ZOIC raced to the front at once, met determined opposition from BE BLUE, drew clear after leaving the back stretch and, steadied along, responded gamely to pressure through the last sixteenth and had enough left to hold BE BLUE safe. The latter, rated along back of the leader through the back stretch, responded determinedly when straightened out in the stretch and was gaining steadily on the winner at the close. ROUGH TIME, unable to roach the leaders early, came stoutly through the stretch run and was traveling the fastest of all at the close. SUN EGRET encountered some interference when leaving the back stretch and came gamely in the final drive. BATTLE JACK moved to the leaders steadily after the opening five-sixteenths, only to falter through the stretch run. ACCOLADE was unable to threaten. TERPISCHORE outran her field from the start, drew clear when reaching the back stretch and; rated along in front, responded gamely to hard riding through the stretch and outlasted DARK BEAU at the end. DARK BEAU was reserved until leaving the back stretch, moved up fast on the outside, showed in front briefly in the stretch, but was unable to maintain his advantage, although fighting it out gamely to the end. KENYON C. moved up gradually on the inside down the back stretch, continued to save ground and fought it out with good energy to the close. CELESTINO, reserved early, came gamely in the drive, although unable to reach the leaders. LADY ROMA dropped back after straightening out on the back stretch. FIGHT BACK raced well for the first five-eighths. COL. GOODNIGHT was outrun throughout. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-8 MILES! Seabiscuit, Aug. 7, 1937—1:49—4—130. SAIDONA, away fast, gained command straightening out in the back stretch, made a determined bid to go along with the winner when challenged, but was not good enough, although continuing with good energy to the close. COUNTRY LASS began moving up in the last three-eighths and finished determinedly. LITTLE BANNER, far back early, closed an immense gap. FOREIGN LEGION made up some ground, but was unable to reach the leaders. PRINCIPESSA was unable to keep up. HALLIES PLAY faltered when called upon. TIEMPO had brief early speed.
