Won driving; second and third the same. — POST MERIDIAN improved his position on the outside rounding the stretch turn, moved into command when urged and held his opposition safe to the end, but pulled up lame. GOLDEN VEIN raced forvvardly from the start and then closed ground steadily at the end. SUNPHANTOM forced a fast pace from the start and then hung at the finish. ELDEE was a forward factor throughout and had no mishaps. SUNNY-SHORE saved ground. RICCADONNA showed early speed. INSCOLITA lacked early speed. BAREBACK dropped back after the break. RED TIME could not get through on the inside. MUCKRAKER stumbled at the start and almost unseated his rider. SEMAPHORE began slowly. PAPA JACK had no mishaps. WOODSIA dwelt at the start. THE WIND forced a fast pace from the start, raced CHICLUNA into defeat, saved ground entering the stretch, responded when roused and held SILVER FLAME safe to the finish. The latter, fractious at the post, broke from outside the stalls, moved up fast on the outside rounding the far turn, made a determined bid in the stretch and then hung at the finish. BONNIE VIXEN was hard urged in the early running and finished well. CHICLUNA showed early speed and had no mishaps in the running. SECRET ROSE, a forward factor in the early stages, tired badly in the stretch run. GRANDIFLORA lacked early speed. SCOTCH FLOWER had no mishaps. DINAH DESMOND dropped out of contention after the start. IDLE ZELDA raced well. CUT EMERALD had no excuses. FLOOD TIDE raced greenly. Scratched — Foggy Day, 116. THIRD RACE 5-8 MILE Widener Course. Won ridden out; second and third easily. EQUISTAR showed speed from the start, while racing true, responded when placed under pressure in the final eighth, shook off MERRY KNIGHT and drew away. The latter was slow to begin and was then taken to the outside, made a determined bid in the final sixteenth, then hung in the last sixteenth. SCOTCH BREAD showed an even effort throughout. MAHDI showed speed from the start while on the outside and then faltered in the final sixteenth. SHOULDER ARMS moved up with determination on the inside rounding the stretch turn and then faltered. WAR MOON, a trailer in the early running, finished with good courage. JINX BUSTER had no mishaps. BOGERT showed early speed, then tired. SLAVE CHARM never was a serious factor.
