SOUND WAVE, slow to begin, improved his position rapidly after a quarter, moved clear rapidly after reaching the lead, tired in the last stages, but withstood RAYMOND. The latter, hustled along from the start, forged to the front at the upper turn, gave way soon afterward, was unable to withstand the winner, but held on well. B EIGHTY, on the inside and shuffled back at the far turn, saved ground thereafter and finished strongly. MELODY MAID, taken back when in close quarters early, came to the outside for the drive and closed with a rush. VIRBET tired after improving his position. HONEY CHILE raced through the field. STROLLING HIGH was outrun. BALD CREST, used up in alternating with RAYMOND at pace-making, quit badly after a half mile and pulled up lame. i Overweight — Tura Stone, 4 pounds. DEDICATION improved his position after three-eighths, was put to strong urging while racing wide and finished strongly. NANAHCUB, never far back, closed resolutely. MOKENA raced on the inside in the drive. SACHEM raced wide and showed little. WATERCURE made up ground. THE BULLET was done after a half mile. ODDESA DON had speed. POVERTY BAY, hustled to the front, established a clear lead after five-sixteenths, held sway thereafter, responded to strong urging when tiring and outfinished MANNERLY. The latter, rushed into contention and hustled along after five-eighths, engaged the winner approaching the final eighth and hung in the final stride. FOXSTER raced on the inside and tired. GOLDEN SHOE was in close quarters tothe stretch and tired. WOODWAAC had no mishaps. FLYING DERE, pinched back entering the final three-quarters, met interference again on the upper turn and showed little thereafter. GEO. KREHBIEL quit. GOLD COLOR worked his way forward steadily and held on well. VERAKEE, fractious but away well, was carried wide early and, forced to lose ground while holding a contendinc position tired EXCHANGE CLUB and BAY STOUT quit. LOVE BOY was outrun.
