CHESTER ROSE, away fast and taken to the inside before reaching the turn, set the pace under steadying restraint, responded courageously to strong urging and just lasted to outstay WEE HEDWIG. The latter was taken under light restraint while in close attendance of the leaders, came fast in the final stages and was wearing down the winner. JUNE O., a strong factor from the start, continued in eame fashion after losing some ground at the stretch turn. WEST SEA, slow to begin and badly outrun for" five-eighths, got through on the inside thereafter and closed a big gap. HEARTEASE could not keep up. MERGE was through after a half mile. RETTEF, alertly handled and showing good speed throughout, was steadied along in front after gaining the lead in the first sixteenth, responded well to hand riding and held HEDON safe. The latter, never far out of it and held in reserve for three-eighths, was placed to pressure thereafter, but could not menace the winner. OPOCA, forced wide throughout, improved her position gradually and closed gamely. SURVEYOR, hard hustled after a slow beginning, was forced wide entering the stretch and showed a good effort. JACKEMMA tired in the last stages. PALM ISLAND made up some ground. STANISLAUS was taken up sharply at the start and was never a factor. BORN LUCKY forced a stiff pace from the start, continued in game fashion when placed to strong handling in the last quarter, wore down HAPPY TIDINGS, but just managed to outstay PURPLE WRACK. The latter, never far back and fortunate to get through on the inside in the last quarter, issued a bold challenge and finished strongly. HAPPY TIDINGS set the pace under extreme pressure and tired in the drive. FYLFOT was unable to keep up. PIPSON made up, some ground. BLACK RHAPSODY was fractious at the gate and broke well, but bore out on the stretch turn. Overweight — Stella Mc, 3$ pounds; Black Rhapsody. 2£. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. ALICE HIGHLAND, hustled into the lead soon after the start, was taken in hand while setting a good pace and was strongly urged in the final stages when displaying an inclination to weaken. DISTRACT, a factor throughout but racing wide on the stretch turn, responded readily to urging, but could not threaten the winner. ENCHILADA improved her position gradually and finished strongly. MEXICO CITY began sluggishly, was put to strong urging throughout and made up some ground in the final quarter. OSA ATKINS, unable to keep up in the first half mile, made up ground rapidly thereafter. KENTUCKY JANE tired. GARDEN POOL forced the pace for a half mile, then gave way. JOE BURMAN sulked. The latter set the pace under extreme pressure, saved ground throughout and held on with determination, but was not good enough. BLUE STAR, taken up sharply at the break when in close quarters, .raced wide on the turns and finished strongly, probably being best. MOISSON dropped back after a fast beginning and never threatened. PRENNY was well up to the final eighth, where he tired as if in need of racing. KIEV GAFFNEY lacked speed. Overweight — Blue Star, 3 pounds. Corrected weight — Prenny, 111. SIXTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. DUSKY PRINCE, a strong factor throughout, tired after three-quarters. FRANCESCO, slow to settle into his best stride and outrun for three-eighths, improved his position steadily thereafter and finished strongly. SORTIE STAR lacked speed and was never a contender. POMPEYS PILLAR was unprepared at the start. SAUNDERSTOWN showed speed for a half mile, then gave way and was not persevered with in the last quarter. Scratched— 74318High One. 104. PERSUADER worked his way up on the outside, disposed of OUR BESSIE after three-eighths, but was unable to withstand the winner. HOLLYWOOD ACE moved up with a rush after a half mile, byt faltered under strong urging near the end. OUR BESSIE, away fast and hard hustled throughout, tired in the last quarter. BONNIE CAIN worked his way up gradually on the outside and finished gamely. STUMPTOWN, away in motion, set the pace for five eighths, then tired. BROWN RAY was away in a tangle and was never a factor. PARRISH ROACH had no excuse. CATCHEM was unprepared at the start and, after making a bid in the first five-eighths to gain prominence, tired.
