OMAHAS PECULIAR "DOUBLE" No Combination Tickets Are Sold — Money Divided on Individual Winners of First and Second Races. OMAHA, Neb., May 27.— The dawn broke with overcast skies for the inaugural at Ak-Sar-Ben today, and the heavy downpour which fell as the horses paraded for the first race converted the track to sloppy going. The introductory race resulted in an upset when Harry Wells Gayette came through with a game performance to carry off the honors, when she was up to win in the final strides under a clever ride by the veteran, W. Gonzalez. Vishnu raced to second place, while third fell to Roger Witch. The winner paid the liberal dividend of 7.80 to win, 1.40 to place, and .20 to show. "One of those freak happenings in the betting occurred at Ak-Sar-Ben today which concerned the "Daily Double" combination comprised of Gayette, winner of the first race, and Blinkem, winner of the second. Incidentally there, were no tickets sold on Blinkem, so, according to rules governing the payment on the successful combination, those who held tickets on Gayette will share in the pool regardless of where their horses finished in the second race. Those who held tickets on Blinkem with anything in the first race will also share in the pool regardless of where their horses finished in the first race. Those who held tickets on Gayette in the first race received 4.80, while those who held tickets on Blinkem in the second race received 04.40.
