BRILLIANT STONE, away fast and taken in hand for the first quarter, moved around ALMA MAE rounding the far turn, opened up a commanding lead entering the stretch and was never in danger thereafter. THE NIZAM, hustled from the start and steered to the outside for the final quarter, finished gamely, but was unable to menace the winner. IDLE WORKER, never a great distance back and on the outside for the drive, was unable to reach the leaders. HAPPY DASH, hustled into contention, had nothing left for the final stages. VANSCOUT was unable to keep up. CHARLES J. was outrun. ALMA MAE had good speed in the heavy ecing for three-ciehths, but was through thereafter. CIVIL WAIt lacked early speed, responded to strong urging rounding the far turn, was steered to the outside for the final drive, displayed strong energy in the final strides and just got up, BUTCH, probably best, acted fractious at the barrier, was placed on the outside for the start, was rushed to the leaders, wore down COMET 0 JACK approaching the final eighth, but tired in the final seventy yards. COMET 0 JACK, also fractions at the barrier, was hustled from the start, disposed of RAPID HELLS, responded to pressure when relinquishing the lead and held on gamely. GENIE JH, had no mishaps, MY GRANDSON lacked early speed. LEONA HEIGH was unprepared at the start. PANATELA faltered in the drive. OAKWOODS LADY and RAPID HELLS quit. AHLE ABE, showing a liking for the heavy footing, was under mild restraint in setting the pace and, slightly urged when straightened out in the stretch, was taken in hand in the final sixteenth and held ITO safe. The latter moved to the leaders slowly, came out for the drive, disposed of DOCTOR TIM inside the final eighth, hut was unable to menace the winner. DOCTOR TIM moved into contention with a rush, but tired in the final sixteenth. JUSTIFICATION, hustled from the start, faltered in the drive. MARGARET NADI had no mishaps. HUSKER H. lacked early speed. SACAKAWA had no excuses. JUDIE BELLE bad a hurst of earlv speed. DORLA, allowed to settle Into best stride, was mildly urged rounding the far turn, was steered to the outside for the stretch drive and was strongly ridden in tlio final eighth to wear down CAN-U-TELL. The latter shook off MART without need of strong urging, continued strongly when challenged in the stretch run, but gave way in the final strides. CALANTA. on the outside throughout, made a bold bid approaching the final eighth, hut tired in the last seventy yards. FRISKY DAY raced on the outside the entire trip. The others were outrun. PRINCE ARGO, racing in his best form, had good speed from the start, drifted out slightly when taken in hand turning: into the stretch and, under a strong ride during the last eighth, outgamed SKY WIND. The latter, under restraint for three-eighths, was mildly urged turning into the stretch, benefited by PRINCE ARGO going wide and, taking command, was unable to withstand the winner. JAY D. BANE made a bold bid when steered to the outside entering the stretch, was forced to race wide during the final three-sixteenths and was going strongly at the end. HIGH FIDELITY, outrun in the early stages and lucky when the leaders swung wide turning into the stretch, responded to strong urging in the final three-sixteenths and withstood MISS ADAMS, the latter, moving to the leaders turning into the stretch, weaved her way between horses approaching the final eighth and closed strongly. MINEY, steered through close quarters in the run down the back stretch, was forced to ease up rounding the far turn and continued gamely when clear in the stretch run, but tired in the final seventy yards. OAKWOODS LAD had nothing left for the drive. INSCOLT raced wide turning into the stretch. GOLDKIN faltered in the closing stages. GENERAL BOY, prominent from the start, quit in the stretch run.
