WENT TO POST— 7:13. AT POST— 4 minutes. Start bad and slow. Won driving: third the same. MARGARET G.. rushed into contention, took command when ready, drew clear rapidly, was well handled when cneaeed and. holding on in fine style, finished in a dead heat with MANHUNT. The latter, reserved early, improved his position steadily and closed in determined fashion. POVERTY BAY, under hustling tactics from the start, offered a bold bid approaching the final eighth and. in close quarters in the last staees, held on gamely. BIG GAY came from well back. RUSTIC JOE sprinted into a good early lead, eae way to MARGARET G. and tired steadily thereafter. LARO KEYS had no mishaps. PEDANT was outrun. JOHN TIO was in motion when the start came. PAY-OFF IN ALL DEAD HEATS In the case of any and all dead beats, wagers made away from the track the chart prices should prevail if track odds were offered and accepted. Where house* odds were accepted, the procedure should be as follows: If was bet on each horse and o to 1 laid on one horse, the pay-off should be .00 to the payer and .00 to the layer; if 2 to 1 was laid on the other, the pay-off should be .50 to the player and .50 to the layer. Where one of the horses in u dead heat is quoted at odds-on or less than even money, the transaction is a loser. For instance, if .00 is bet on a 4 to 5 shot, the pay-off in the dead heat would be 90 cents to the layer and 90 cents to the player. The amount of money bet, plus the odds laid, with the total divided equally between the player and layer, is the regular method of pay-off in dead heats where bookmaking odds prevail.
