I - ; JAP -BRITISH COMPLICATION SHANGHAI, China, June 17.— British troops today prevented an attempt by Japanese soldiers to take possession of a police station in Britains defense area in the western part of the city in an incident further complicating Anglo-Nipponese relations. Japanese military assaulted the disputed station with the aid of Chinese members of the Tatao police, which are dominated and controlled by the Japanese. The station is within Chinese territory, lying just across the road bordering the British i j settlement, but inside the area of British ! control. British soldiers ousted the Sino-I Japanese garrison last month, barred the doors and battered "the windows. The at-• tempt to reoccupy the post today was pre-t vented by English soldiers who dashed to the scene. There were no casualties, but the incident was considered typical of Anglo-t Japanese friction in this troubled area and 1 potentially was extremely dangerous.
