LANCASTER, Ohio, June 17.— Appointment of John Carey, veteran and nationally-prominent racing official, to the position of f racing secretary for the nine-day meeting g of running races at the Fairfield County v | Fair Grounds, Lancaster, was announced i today by Robert J. Dienst, president and j j general manager of the Lancaster Racing a 3 ! Association, Inc. Carey will assume his duties immediately. » The meeting will start Saturday, June 24, I I and will close Tuesday, July 4. | In addition to being racing secretary, y Carey also will serve as track handcapper. He served as an assstant to Fred V. Burton in the secretarys office at Beulah Park last nt spring. Careys appointment is the first for the e meeting announced by Dienst.
