CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 17.— Probably no innovation offered by the Thistle Down Racing Association during the past several years has met with as much approval from the horsemen as the trainers awards. Harry S. Allshouse, president, who is personally directing the preliminary details for the forty-four days of summer racing which gets under way Saturday, July 15, said today that each request for stalls included praises for these awards. In all stakes and races where the purse value is ,000 or over and eight or more horses enter and start, also in races at a distance of one and one-half miles or over, the trainer of the winner will receive 0. The trainer of the second horse will receive 5 and the trainer of the third horse 0. Last year the Thistle Down Racing Association gave awards to trainers of the first, second and third horses in the marathon races and this was such a popular innovation that president Allshouse and general man-I ager Edward P. Strong decided to change it to this years policy. Although nearly a month remains before the opening of the long meeting, several stables already have arrived at the course, and track superintendent J. O. Brown has the track proper in excellent condition. To take care of many of the numerous requests for stabling accommodations the management has leased Bainbridge Park, and its track is being prepared for training purposes.
