PETARD, much the best and raced wide throughout, bettered his position gradually while under a snug hold the first five-eighths, t !ok command with a rush approaching the final eighth, drew out thereafter and had something left. DARK SEEKER raced to the leaders after three sixteenths, was kept under restraint until the stretch and, while no match for the winner, held on well under a strong hand ride. JEWELRY, far back for a half mile, improved her position steadily thereafter and headed MERRY PETE in the bst stride. The latter received a hustling ride and tired after showing the most speed to the stretch. REX EQUINUS had no excuses. DETERMINED broke slowly, moved up fast in the first quarter, but gave way gradually after about three eighths. Overweight — Goldendue, 1 pound. ■ THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE. VIERNES SANTO was badly outrun from the start, rallied boldly in the last three sixteenths and sustained fine belated speed to the close. FAIR ROCK showed a good effort.
