McCarty Buys Ranch -NORTHRID GE, Calif., June 27 W. McCarty, Beverly Hills hotel executive, has increased his interests in thoroughbred breeding through the -purchase of the ranch of Robert Taylor, motion picture star. The property, which changed owners a few days ago, is of 27 acres, complete with up-to-the-minute stables and paddocks and a bungalow that was built by the actor soon after his marriage to Barbara Stanwyck a few years ago. The ranch is adjacent to the Mar-wyck Ranch, which was formerly owned by Miss Stanwyck and Zeppo Marx. When Miss Stanwyck became interested in the breeding industry, Taylor purchased a place nearby as a Test haven and for the stabling of his numerous saddle horses. He spared no expense in equipping the place and as a result McCarty has acquired one of the showplaces of San Fernando Valley. McCarty has been interested in racing since the opening of the Santa Anita track and his red and white silks have been carried at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park by many good horses. His string is now racing at Suffolk Downs in charge of trainer C. R. West. He has four or five brood mares. He will move them to his jiew ranch within a few weeks and it is probable that he will purchase a sire for duty next year.
