Won driving; second and third the same. MR. GRUNDY saved ground while racing within striking distance of TRAUMELUS to the stretch, came determinedly when hard urged in the drive and was up in the closing strides. TRAUMELUS took command early, shook off PERAGRA after the half and continued resolutely, but could not withstand, the winner. CYNTHIA FAIR, well, placed and a sharp factor from the start, came to the inside entering th stretch, but tired near the finish. PERAGRA, much used engaging TRAUMELUS in the first half, failed to stay under urging. NANCYS SON was never dangerous. ARANMORE raced far back throughout. SILSWEEP showed little. ILLKA took command soon after the start, established a good lead while under a snug hold, responded readily when roused entering the stretch and lasted to withstand MUST GO. The latter, in hand while outrun to the final turn, came gamely when hard urged in, the drive, but could not get to the winner. SHOW UP raced evenly in a good effort and had no mishaps. MERITORIOUS, liever far back, moved up-boldly approaching the stretch, but failed to stay under punishment. PHOEBUS was always far back. TOWN LEAGUE had brief early speed.
