Training Accident Proves Fatal to Jockey J. F. Frye ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., June 27. Jockey Jack Francis Frye, 25-year-old Marengo, Iowa, boy, died this morning in the Northwestern Hospital at Des Plaines as a result of injuries he sustained in a training accident at Arlington Park a short time previous. Frye was hurt when he was attempting to work the horse Little Gallant, a two-year-old owned by William Buck. Just as the horse broke out of the gate the rider got one foot out of the stirrup and slipped over the animals side, but could not disengage the- other foot. Then he was dragged a considerable distance and repeatedly kicked. Frye fell free of the horse only when his boot came off. Rushed to the hospital, it was discovered he had sustained a depressed fracture of the side of his chest, a large laceration beneath his chin, a . possible broken arm and other cuts and bruises. Frye was married and had a son 4 years old. Buck said that Fryes body would be sent to Twin Falls, Idaho, for burial by relatives. He also said that the jockey was to have been inducted into the Army next Monday.
