CELESTI F.. never a great distance back, continued with splendid energy to the close. NOT YET pressed the leader closely for a half mile, then faltered slightly under pressure in "the last eighth. VITAL LADY was never a great distance back, moved up to take command when MAX FORST began tiring and .drew out, never being seriously threatened and winning with speed to spare. SPARROW CHIRP, outrun until the last half mile, moved up gradually and finished determinedly in the last three-sixteenths. PACIFIER worked his way up gradually and came willingly in the closing drive. LAST CHANCE, far back early, closed a big gap. LITTLE LONG raced prominently for three-quarters, then, .tired under pressure through the last quarter. HASTY -WIRE moved up on the inside nearing the far turn, gained steadily and gave way in the last quarter. IN DUTCH, bumped and carried wide on the first turn, was unable to reach the leaders. SNOWFLY, prominently placed from the outset and on the outside while disputing the pace, gained a short lead when straightening out in the stretch and drew out in the last eighth. VALDINA DISCO, hard ridden from the start and in the thick of the contention, was unable to -go -along with the winner through the stretch, but held on stubbornly to outlast JERRY LEE. The latter displayed keen early speed and, saving ground all the way, held on willingly to the close. BALLACON was unable to reach the leaders, although going willingly at the end. LANOVA, steadied along for a half mile, was brought to the outside in the stretch and, closing with a rush, was along in the closing strides. SQUADRON drew away into a long lead, but began quitting badly in the last sixteenth and just failed to last. OMASARI, away slowly? moved up stoutly on tlfe outside entering the stretch and came willingly in the drive. BUMS RUSH, prominent for a half mile, tired under pressure in the last three-sixteenths. BATTERY, well placed from the start, was taken to the outside when reaching the back stretch, wore down GALLANT ONE for the lead nearing the stretch, drew clear, but was doing his utmost at the close to hold LIGHT REIGH safe. The latter, unable to keep pace early, swung to the outside in the stretch and closed with a rush. MAD BACHELOR trailed his company until reaching the stretch and, closing stoutly, was along in the last strides to wear down GALLANT ONE. The latter outran his field to the first turn, drew clear and, rated along under slight restraint, faltered in the last five-Sixteenths. UVIRA II. outran her field to the first turn, opened up a good lead and,, rated along under slight reserve, bejan tiring npar the finish .and, despite being placed to -brisk, urging, was unable to cope with the bid of the winner. LOVEDAY. closed a big gap after trailing until the last half mile. TRANSFIGURE, well placed, was unable to make up any ground, in the last quarter. HYGROHOUR, away forwardly was impeded slightly at the far turn, recovered gamely, wore down THROUGH BOUND when reaching the tretch to take command arid drew clear at the close. JACK S. L., unable to reach the leaders during the opening three-eighths, came in resolute fashion in the stretch run. GOLD SHOWER came willingly when placed to hard riding through the stretch run. THROUGH BOUND, quickest to start, opened up a comfortable lead in the opening three-sixteenths and, continuing gamely, was unable to keep pace when challenged in the stretch. BAR KEEP saved ground into the stretch, but was unable to engage the leaders. VALDINA SOL failed to enter into serious contention. SWIMMIN HOLE was never a factor. BRAVE ACTION, avoiding the early pace, moved up steadily in the last three-eighths and gained a short lead nearing tire finish, but was unable to-cope with the bid of the winner. NEWARK, sent to the outside leaving the back stretch, obtained a short advantage before reaching the stretch and, while fighting it out gamely, was not good enough. BABA, away fast, dropped .back, but worked, his way up steadily in the last half mile. APROPOS worked her way into a contending position, but was unable to close any ground in the last quarter.
