THE DUDE suffered but lightly as ht and ARIEL GUNNER bumped each other on the first turn, moved up fast while well in hand through the backstretch, slipped between the leaders entering the final half, drew out under pressure in the stretch, but was taken in hand in the last sixteenth. POMPS GAL. raced wide and under steady hold to the stretch, did not respond when caired upon. CID PLAY, also in hand to the last quarter, did not rally and stumbled slightly when weakening badly. LORD CAPRICE had no mishap. ARIEL GUNNER met light early interference. PORT MARS began well and displayed good speed to the last three eighths, where he faltered badly. WOODSMAN broke out slightly at the start, was allowed to move up gradually while under a strong hold the first seven furlongs, came out for the stretch run, engaged TASK FORCE in an extended duel and weakened after getting to the front, but lasted. TASK FORCE, well handled, forced the early pace in hand, took command without need of strong urging, but lost command while holding on well, yet was stronger than the winner at the end. STAND EASY, impeded at the start and badly outrun for seven furlongs, moved up in the middle of the track, but weakened in the late stages HIGH ROLLER moved up on the stretch turn and swerved badly thereafter. THAT-A-LADY was held safe. HO-HO was outrun. PERSIFLAGE broke into WOODSMAN at the start. Overweight— That-A-Lady, 2 pounds; Royal Chief, 1. Attendance, 10,362; Total Mutuel Pool, 28,940. Returned to Public, 36,046, Less Breakage.
