JIMS JEANIE, quickest to begin, was under steady urging to maintain a short advantage while racing out in the better going, then held HICCUP safe under vigorous handling. The latter, a forward factor, saved ground in the deep going and held on gamely. GREEN LOG improved position steadily under strong urging while coming between horses. LIGHT DONNA moved into contention with a rush midway of the turn, then weakened slightly in the drive. DIBBER was forced to lose ground while racing on the extreme outside. F0G0S0 was rushed into contention from a sluggish beginning, then flattened out. BELCO had no mishap. SIGANAR was unable to keep up. BLACK AFRICA was never a serious factor. RING CURTAIN, taken in the better going in the backstretch, responded to pressure when called upon, gained steadily while circling the field entering the stretch and wore down EPISTAR inside the final furlong to draw out at the end. The latter, hustled into command the first quarter, saved ground while holding advantage until straightened for the drive, then faltered. DUSKILY rallied in the final quarter to enter contention, but was unable to reach the top pair under steady urging. SWAG saved ground while close behind the early pace, then weakened in the late stages. HAGAR was unable to keep up. The others were outrun. Scratched— 90343 Big Thicket, 109. GAY PET, showing good speed, drew clear in the first quarter, was steadied while saving ground on the turn, came to the middle of the track, lost the lead to HERBIE G. nearing the furlong pole, then came again in the final sixteenth to nip the latter at the end. HERBIE G. broke forwardly, remained closest to the leader until turning into the stretch, then came up on the inside to assume a short lead and just failed to last. SILEE closed fast, but was unable to menace. O. G. KELLEY, a formidable factor while saving ground, failed to gain under urging in the final eighth. GEMET was never a serious contender. BABY JOANNE was under light restraint while holding a slight advantage in the first quarter, disposed cf PILATES DREAM midway of the turn, saved ground and was under steady urging to hold SOAPSUDS safe. The latter, not hurried while close to the early leaders, was steered to the inside nearing the quarter pole and dosed willingly under stout pressure. ROMAN ABBOT was sent up between horses nearing the stretch turn and finished with good energy. BLUE WISE, outrun for a half mile, saved ground in the final quarter, but was unable to menace. GREAT BEYOND retired steadily after a half mile. PILATES DREAM weakened. AUNT PATSY and NONYAW were outrun. Overweight— Baby Joanne, 3J pounds, Aunt Patsy, 2J. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. IN VOGUE opened a commanding early lead, was taken under light restraint while going easily and maintained her advantage to the end without urging. WOODFORD ANNIE remained closest in attendance of the pace in the run down the backstretch, then failed to improve position when put to a drive. MIGUELITO was forwardly placed and had no excuse, stumbling after the finish and unseating rider. MERRY SUNSHINE showed an even effort. WAR AGENT saved ground entering the stretch, but was unable to threaten. ZACA MAN had no mishap. MISS PURITAN was outrun. KATHY was through early. Scratched— 96848 Sir Alfred, 113. STEPPIN MISS, kept within striking distance while out in the better footing, responded to pressure entering the stretch and closed fast through the middle of the track to outfinish MAGDALA. The latter, sent into command at once, was taken out off the rail for better footing, maintained her advatnage to the furlong post, then faltered under a drive. LADY GREMLIN was sent up fast on the inside rounding the far turn, then weakened while in the deep going. NELL A., prominently placed early, had no excuse. AIR BEAUTY was never a serious factor. B. Carroll; bred by Chester F. Hockley. WENT TO POST-5:26. OFF AT 5:261 EASTERN DAILYGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. WINSOME LAD, under light restraint while forwardly placed on the outside, moved up midway of the far turn, drew into a short lead, was steered to the better footing and finished well. INCOMING saved ground into the first turn, was within striking distance of the lead on the backstretch, was under steady restraint until straightened in the stretch, then closed fast under pressure in the final sixteenth. OXIE had speed from the start, alternated with SCOTCH ABBOT in setting the early pace, dropped back on the turn, then came again and was sent to the inside in the final seventy yards. BLENWEED raced evenly while losing ground on the turns. SCOTCH ABBOT tired. BROKE EVEN turned in a dull effort. For late chart see tomorrows issue
