BRABANCON, a prominent factor and between the leaders in the running, responded to urging in the late stages and outfinished USELESS. The latter bore out slightly entering the final quarter, made a determined bid under urging and hung at the end. FIDDLERS THREE showed a good effort from the beginning, but faltered in the final drive. SURIBACHI was slow to settle in his stride, but closed ground steadily on the inside. TRANSAIR had no mishap. COMANCHE PEAK dropped back after the bteak and, taken under restraint, was sent up on the outside rounding to the stretch turn, then flattened out. EARSHOT was racing stoutly in the stretch run when forced to go to the inside to avoid bumping. GALLORETTE was under steady restraint and was in close quarters when SUROSA bore over.
