BRABANCON, a prominent factor and between the leaders in the running, responded to urging in the late stages and outfinished USELESS. The latter bore out slightly entering the final quarter, made a determined bid under urging and hung at the end. FIDDLERS THREE showed a good effort from the beginning, but faltered in the final drive. SURIBACHI was slow to settle in his stride, but closed ground steadily on the inside. TRANSAIR had no mishap.
