Wagering in Maryland Averages Over Million BALTIMORE, Md., May 29.— For the first time in history, wagering during the spring racing season in Maryland averaged better than a million dollars a day. According to a report by the Maryland Racing Commission, wagering during the 49-day spring season totaled 1,-060,392, for a daily average of ,042,048. With 101 racing days still to go this summer and fall on Marylands three major and five minor tracks, last years record betting total of 03,674,485 is most certain to be surpassed. Although official attendance figures are not yet available, estimates place the daily average at approximately 15,000, a much higher figure than in pre-war years.
