B. Carpenter; bred by Louis Rosenbaum WENT TO POST— 5:36. OFF AT 5:361 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. ROSE CAVE, sluggish early, was under urging after reaching the final half mile, swerved when entering the stretch, where he started up on the outside, veered to the inside nearing the last furlong and, closing well when straight, got up in the last few strides. ECHO BEACH swerved at the break and, rated to the stretch, held on courageously under pressure thereafter. DARBY DULUTH held sway easily to the last quarter, then continued well to the last furlong, then faltered. SPRING DUN, in close quarters early, weakened when ROSE CAVE came over in the stretch. CODE MENTOR began slowly and bore in through the stretch. GUY HOTTEL showed little. TIME UP had no mishap. Overweight— Echo Beach, 2 pounds; Darby Duluth, 2; Spring Dun, 3; Guy Hottel, 21.
