Hofheins First Saddle Success BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 16.— Apprentice Edward Hofheins lost little time in riding the first winner of his career. After getting the feel of the saddle and acquainting himself with the track aboard Katlen in the third race, his first appearance in silks, he came back in the eighth race on the Beulah Park card Wednesday and guided Carrie D. to a convincing victory. Luther Shelton, owner of Carrie D., holds a contract on the riding services of Hofheins, who is a native of Albuquerque, N. M. He is a lightweight at 95 pounds and is 17 years old.
