TACOMA was never far back, moved around on the outside to take command entering the stretch and drew out while drifting out slightly. PURE BRIAR improved his position gradually, was sent to the inside for the drive and closed well. GIANT DRIFT improved her position steadily and finished well on the outside, but could not threaten. PAINTER lacked early speed, but finished gamely. PILATESUN made up some ground in the late stages. DARBY DISMAY had early speed, but quit. HEESADATE was sent out to set the early pace, but quit under pressure. Attendance, 11,937; Total Mutuel Pool, 42,149 Returned to Public, 45,670, Less Breakage.
