Haltermen Unusually Active Of Late at Churchill Downs CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 16. — Haltermen have been unusually active here during the past two days — 13 horses changing owners Wednesday and Thursday via the claiming route — bringing the number of claimed horses to 31 at the Downs spring meeting to date. The two highest-priced registered here were dropped in the box Wednesday when S. D. Sidell deposited ,500 for Par Greater, and E. A. Carney paid a like sum for Foretell. Thursday, trainer Jess Trent, acting for E. Doumani, claimed Rose Bed from J. A. Goodwin for ,000. Trainer H. Pardue took two horses out of the eighth race yesterday, acquiring Queen Plash for Mrs. Fogel and Bayonet for T. Koerner at their entered price of ,000 each.
