Twelve Three-Year-Olds Go Postward In Featured Maytime Purse at Detroit Sistayr, Cleaned, Ekard And Joes Laddie Among Those in Sprint Event FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., May 24. Three-year-olds hold the center of interest at this Motor City course on Monday, when a dozen of that age division are matched in the Maytime Purse, a dash of six furlongs under allowance conditions for a prize of ,500. The sophomores, coming as they do from various racing sectors or from winter quarters, present a very difficult field to separate and there is a definite promise of keen competition in the contest. The performance of J. F. Smiths Sistayr will be watched with interest. The Nedayr filly finished her 1946 campaign with a pair of victories over this track in the Adios Amigo and John Wallace handicaps and attention will be focused on her seasonal debut here. Theodore D. Buhl will be represented by Cleaned, whose lone start during the" winter was an unsuccessful one at Tropical Park. As a two-year-old the son of Sweep Like gave a good account of himself against formidable opposition over this track, and he should come to this engagement thoroughly freshened. A. J. Halliwells Joes Laddie is worthy of consideration against opponents of this calibre on the strength of excellent trials and a return to these moves will have him right at hand. Ekard, who will carry the silks of M. E. Reizen, comes recommended by a victory in New Orleans. Mrs. Lottie Wolfs Bahram filly, Mayram, compels attention on her excellent recent triumph at Churchill Downs, which was preceded by some close finishes. A winner also at New Orleans, a peak effort here would earn her a portion of the purse. An invader from the West Coast, Mrs.! f : E. H. Beezleys Reward All accounted for consecutive races before leaving for her eastern campaign and the Reaping Reward filly might make her presence felt. The outcome of this sprint is very uncertain and surprise scores could be registered by L. J. Tutts Junior Wolf, third in a recenty Kentucky race; Dixianas Fairy Foot, B. H. Wises Sir Monte, C. Whites Four Whites, and L. W. Kidds Fourth Degree, another invader from the West. The second and third races, claiming affairs, also cater to three-year-olds, while the fifth contest, a six-furlong dash for horses four years old and older, under allowance" conditions, attracted a field that rivals- the headliner in interest.
