BAMBUCO improved his position on the inside and finished with a rush to beat down the leaders in the final drive. IRISH KNIGHT, close to the pace, moved into command in the final furlong and held on well. SUNSATION showed early speed, but tired in the late stages. SUCCESSION was blocked hy the leaders in the final furlong and took up. MARINE BAND was a prominent factor throughout. FINAL TOUCH tired. GROUND FOG finished fast on the outside. LUCKY DEVIL could not keep up. SUN EMBER was on the outside and had no mishap. CURTAIN TIME, on the inside, had no excuse. CHRISIE ROGERS was eased toward the outside after the start. HIGH TINT improved her position steadily and, under pressure in the late stages while saving ground, wore down ALBATROSS at the end. The latter was hustled into command, showed speed on the flat, bobbled at the eighth fence, but recovered quickly, drew away and, after taking the final fence, was taken in hand and could not be kept going to stall off the winner. GAY SONG was on the inside from the beginning, but tired in the final furlong. HAVAHOME was slugish in the early stages and made up some ground at the end. Won driving; second and third the same. TAILSPIN was kept forwardly from the start, was sent through on the Inside for the stretch run and, under pressure, disposed of BRABANCON at the end. The latter was a prominent factor all the way, moved into command rounding the stretch turn and held on well. PHALANX worked his way up on the outside and, under pressure in the stretch run, outlasted YOUNG PETER. The latter was sluggish early, improved his position on the inside and in the stretch run started to go up on the outside, then was steered to the inside to finish well. RISKOLATER was slow to begin, but finished with good courage. CORNISH KNIGHT was well up all the way and had no mishap. STAGE KID, on the outside, tired badly. HYBLAZE quit after six furlongs. STAGE BOND was steadied along back of the slow pace and was placed under pressure rounding the stretch turn when he moved up on the outside, then wore down HACHAZO in the final drive. The latter was "steadied along back of the pace, moved up determinedly entering the stretch and assumed command, but could not stave off the winner.
