RADIO JOE, away sluggishly, improved his position steadily to the stretch, came fast when set down for the drive and disposed of THUNDER HOOF in the last stride. THUNDER HOOF went to the front early, held a short lead when settled for the stretch run, but could not withstand the winner and just missed. AFTER EIGHT held on well in a good effort and had no mishap. MY JULIE raced prominently to the stretch, then weakened. ATOKA LAD made a good bid near the stretch, then failed to stay when roused for the drive. ALAN F. had brief speed. NISI PRIUS was outrun. SKYWAVE stumbled at the start and lost his rider. LAST BILL, well handled, went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch under occasional urging and withstood a brisk drive to hold BERT-RAM safe. BERT-RAM, a sharp factor from the beginning, came gamely when set down in the drive and was getting to the winner at the finish. BILL TWIG raced evenly and had no excuse. CLEVELANDER, away fast, could not keep up early, made up ground steadily after the first three-sixteenths, but could not threaten the leaders. APPROVAL was never a serious factor and raced greenly. SILVER MILE went to the front early, made the pace until inside the stretch, but could not head the winner. FORUM engaged SILVER MILE to the stretch, then faltered. TRADEMARK could not better his position when set down for the drive. ATTRITION began slowly. GRAND TEDDY assumed command early, made the pace until inside the stretch, but was unable to head the winner. ATREBLA, outrun to the final quarter, finished fast under urging. LENOIL was outrun. MERRY ZAC had brief speed. BELMONT BEAUTY, away alertly, was forced to take up leaving the back-stretch, was bothered on the final turn when bumped by CHALLE ANNE and failed to recover thereafter. PAPALOI, never far back but on the outside, responded to strong handling during the stretch run and wore down the leaders during the final furlong. SHAWS PRIDE, much used engaging GO DEVIL to the stretch, reached the lead when settled for the drive, but could not withstand PAPALOI. SKY WOLF, slow to begin and outrun to the last quarter, finished very fast under punishment. LEGISLATOR, a sharp factor from the beginning, lacked racing room during the drive and could not better his position. GO DEVIL engaged SHAWS PRIDE ,to the last eighth, went to the front between calls, then weakened near the finish. RUSH ACT, in close quarters throughout, could not threaten. FAITHFUL MORE, on the inside and forced to take up during the drive, could not menace when clear. VALDINA DATE was outrun. MIGHTY STORY, away fast, could not keep up early, was overconfidently handling during the stretch run and just lasted to take second, then was taken up, was roused after the finish and worked out to the mile in 1:43. JACK S. L. began fast, dropped back after the start, raced evenly to the stretch, came stoutly in the drive and was getting to MIGHTY STORY at the end. MERRYMARCH held on well to the final quarter, then faltered. BULL PLAY was done early. OLD KENTUCK was outrun. ALBULIL enggaed DARK JUNGLE to the half-mile mark, then gave way.
