Cassis Joins Stallion Ranks At Sheas Merryland Farm HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., May 27. Marylands ever-growing supply of breeding stock was greatly augmented over the week-end when Mrs. Danny Shea, mistress of Merryland Farm, announced that Deer-ing Howes Cassis would be shipped to that establishment to do stud duty. Cassis, an eight-year-old son of Bull Dog Gay Knightess, has been one of Americas top sprinters for the past five seasons, and joins the stallions, Mr. Bones and Peace Chance, at the Shea farm. During his six years of campaigning under trainer Preston Burch, Cassis won 20 races, to earn 01,382. The record of the Virginia-bred Cassis includes victories in the Christiana Stakes at Delaware Park, the Benjamin Franklin, Princeton and Valley Forge at Garden State, and the Roseben, Vosburgh, and the Fall High-weight in New York.
