HIGH HUNCH, slow to settle in best stride, remained on the outside to improve position entering the stretch, wrested the lead from MY YEAR near the furlong pole and held the latter safe in the closing drive. MY YEAR assumed command soon after the start and held on well after being displaced. CAROLINA STAR raced closest to the pace for awhile saving ground, then weakened. PEANUTS GIRL was shuffled back slightly leaving the backstretch, then rallied mildly in the drive. LUSM0RES was unable to improve her position. RIO REIGH weakened in the final furlong. JACATAM forged to the front soon after the start, drew out to a clear lead under mild urging and increased her advantage steadily in the final eighth. RIVER PLAY was prominently placed from the start, lost ground slightly entering the stretch and closed well to finish on even terms with SIR SPIC for second money. The latter was a forward factor throughout while on the outside, raced closest to the pace after a quarter and just failed to hold RIVER PLAY safe. LINDA LEA appeared to lug in slightly during the early stages and rallied mildly in the final quarter. MY BUTTERFLY was well placed to the stretch, then weakened. RANIES CHOICE forged to the front leaving the backstretch, was bothered slightly by JUDY J. when the latter bore out in the early stretch, then drew out when securing racing room in the final sixteenth. FIGHTING FLAG was in close quarters during the opening quarter, was taken to the outside to improve position entering the stretch and closed well, although carried slightly wide by JUDY J. The latter was hustled to the lead at the start and held on well after being displaced, although drifting out in the closing furlong. MISS SNIP raced evenly. HELENS DREAM had early speed. CARMUS, rated in a contending position early, came to the outside to engage the leaders in the early stretch and drew out "after assuming command near the sixteenth pole. TEE MIDGE raced closest to IRISH BAYS pace from the start, but was not good enough. WISE SUN improved position gradually and showed a good effort TAKE COURAGE was a sharp contender at the head of the stretch, but faltered in the closing drive. IRISH BAY forged to the front soon after the start, was under steady pressure while setting the pace to midstretch, then weakened. TZARITSA was hustled to the front at the start, drew into a clear lead on the turn, but had to be roused when POMPEIAN challenged boldly in the final eighth. POMPEIAN, slow to settle into best stride, responded to urging to gain a forward position after a quarter, but was unable to seriously menace the winner in the drive. FORETELL improved his position gradually while saving ground. FLARES DURBAR failed to rally when urged in the stretch. GAL ANN was under strong restraint while racing closest to ROSE HAIRAN, came around the latter to assume the lead leaving the backstretch and drew out swiftly thereafter to win easily. ICE DANCER appeared to run into tight quarters near the half-mile pole and came willingly when roused, but failed to seriously menace the winner. LITTLE ACTION was in a prominent position from the beginning, but was not good enough. LETTY was racing closest to the pacemaker at the quarter pole, then quit. AETHELRED, unhurried when unable to gain a forward position early, was taken to the outside to improve position on the final turn, moved to the leader with a rush in the early stretch and wore FOR GRANTED down in the final seventy yards. The latter was hustled to the front at the start, opened up a wide lead while saving ground, but was unable to withstand the winners closing bid. TCHADA was slow to settle into best stride, moved between horses to gain a contending position on the final turn and closed willingly. FANDANGO closed ground in the final furlong. GREMLIN, outrun early, was rushed up to gain a forward position entering the stretch, then tired. HEMJOHN had early speed. Scratched 234114 Broad Daylight, 118. Overweight Crowflight, 2 pounds.
