Joe B. Brown Purse Heads Trio Of Features at Hawthorne Today Expediter Has Seven Rivals T In Sprint; Paducah Out for Repeat Win in Marion Lome HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 28. The Joe E. Brown, the Harvey, and the Marion Lome purses, three allowance tests for four-year-olds and upward, are the top offerings on tomorrows program at this West Side racing grounds. The Brown will bring together eight useful sprinters at six furlongs, an even dozen shifty thoroughbreds are entered in the six and one-half furlongs Harvey, while a like number of horses are named for the mile and one furlong Marion Lome. Racing secretary and handicapper Lawrence C. Bogenschutz has arranged several good supporting events and the card promises excellent sport. The Brown will bring out Woolford Farms Expediter, who is to make his first start of the current meeting, and he will go postward under 111 pounds. The Wool-ford homebred will be opposed by Felix J. DeMarys Raydel, who recently turned in a good effort behind Cherry Trifle; David W. Butlers Unchallenged, second in his last outing at Churchill Downs; Capital B. Farms Captain Eddie; Mikel and Elrods Plaidloch; E. Covinas Home Flight; R. Cudahys Over Night, and Renden Farms Peraptera. Captain Eddie was a useful performer in New Orleans last winter, Plaidloch is always a dangerous threat in sprints while Peraptera has been showing improvement in his recent morning trials. Paducah Seeks Further Laurels The Marion Lome, which is spotted seventh I on the card, should develop into a , closely fought route test. Included in the band of possible starters are Joseph Lom-1 bardos useful Montree, William H. Bish- ops Light Reigh, a clever "off" track racer, : and Glenn Gorbets Paducah, who won his last local engagement and, previous to that appearance, romped to an easy victory at Churchill Downs. Completing the list of 1 entrants for the longer distance offering are S. M. Englishs Fighting Mac, Mrs. 5 Albert Sabaths Special Pet, Mrs. E. M. 5 Kohouts Miss G. G., J. Horans Fergies Maid, Thomas Calumets Jubilee Gem, " James Sands Swell Chance, J. McElroys 1 Betty Van, J. H. Dunns Air Beauty, and 3 E. R. Spindens Vittore. Mrs. Kohouts colors also are to be car- ried in the Harvey Purse, which is the fifth on the. program. Bagnell, victor in two of his starts this year, may go postward as one of the Harvey choices. In the latter event, Don Devito, a Churchill Downs victor; Politics, Old Silk, and Capsicum, who recently won here, are expected to come in for the bulk of the publics support.
