The latter moved up fast on the inside of the leader, made a determined bid, but hung near the end. BIG DIAL closed some ground in the late stages. NASSAU was a prominent factor from the start and, rounding the stretch turn, was bumped by LUCKY REWARD when the latter drifted out, assumed command in the final furlong, then moved to the inside and drew away. LUCKY REWARD was hustled into command, showed speed, but drifted out rounding the stretch turn and could not stave off the winner. G. RAY vas well up all the way and had no mishap. CAPT. WORD OF HONOR came over steadily after the start, caused some crowding, continued to drift to the inside under pressure, then held on well to the end. A claim of foul was lodged against the winner for bearing over, but was disallowed. BRASS BAND, a prominent factor all the way, was in close quarters when the winner drifted over, but seemed to be beaten and was not persevered with in the final few yards. WAR RULER was quick to begin, but swerved to the inside and," in the iinal furlong while on the inside, could not get through. CRAYON overcame early interference and finished well. PROPS raced true on the outside and had no mishap. SPLASH finished well. ORATION was bothered repeatedly in the running. FIERY SUN had a flash of early speed. CER VANTES began slowly. WAR BATTLE Jumped well and showed speed on the flat, was steadied along when FLEETTOWN moved up and challenged, responded when roused in the final half-mile, assumed command and drew away. FLEETTOWN was under steady restraint in the early stages, moved up with a rush after going two miles, assumed command, but began to tire m the final quarter-mile and was not persevered with when beaten. FLOATING ISLE dropped back in the early running, then finished steadily to outlast RAYLYWN. The latter closed with a rush. ARMY POWER had no mishap. ELKRIDGE was never a factor. RYTINA was sent into command, was steadied along throughout while setting a fast pace, responded when roused in the final furlong and held her opposition safe MISS GRILLO dropped back after the start and, on the outside in the early running, moved up between horses entering the stretch, went to the outside and finished with a belated rush. BE FAITHFUL was well up all the way and held on with good courage. NOMADIC moved up strongly when settled for the stretch run, then faltered. WAR DATE was steadied along, but failed to respond when urged. SWEET CAPRICE could not menace the leaders. ELPIS dropped back after the start, then closed some ground. MERRY LASS, on the inside, raced well. HALF AFTER could not keep up. BRIDAL FLOWER flattened out badly in the late stages.
