CHARGREY, much the best, forged to the front soon after the start, was under mild urging to race VERA CONNELLY into submission rounding the turn and drew out in the stretch to win easily. VERA CONNELLY raced closest to the leader from the start, but was not good enough. SANCHILLA was a forward factor from the start, but was never dangerous. FOOLISH BID was unable to improve his position. SPARKETTE failed to rally. FLASH ANNA was well placed to the stretch, then weakened. GRETCHEN had early speed. Da Lee Watts; bred by Mereworth Farm. WENT TO POST 3:00. OFF AT 3:01 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won ridden out; second and third driving. SUNSTORM, a forward factor from the start, was taken around SUNDIAL to assume the lead leaving the backstretch, vas headed momentarily by LANTERN when the latter came through on the inside in the early stretch, then drew out slightly after regaining the lead near the sixteenth pole. LANTERN moved up with a rush on the inside to take momentary command at the furlong pole, then hung on well in the closing drive. JUDGE DAVEY, slow to hit stride, circled horses to gain a contending position entering the stretch and closed well in a good effort. FLINTEE weakened in the final furlong. CHRYS-DOLL, under strong restraint while rated behind the pacemaker, wrested the lead when ready entering the stretch, was roused slightly near the furlong pole and drew out in the. final eighth of a mile. ONLY YOURS was rushed to the front at the start but was unable to withstand the winner in the stretch run. CAESAR B., allowed to race on his own courage early, rallied well in the stretch and closed gamely. CLASS BOOK closed ground in the final furlong. WAR ARCHIVE went evenly. RED VULCAN, slow to settle into best stride, came to the outside to improve his position entering the stretch and outlasted WISE DECISION in a hard drive through the final eighth. WISE DECISION saved ground to assume command in the early stretch and just failed to hold the winner safe. SIR ECHO lost ground slightly on the turn and failed to rally, despite strong urging in the closing furlong. EQUIPPED made up ground in the stretch run. CAERIGHT opened up a clear lead through the first half, then faltered. DANCING GOB weakened in the final eighth. Scratched 21424 Liberty Head, 116; 20366 Arthur J., 111. LANLAST raced closest to the leader from the start, lodged a determined challenge rounding the turn, but was not good enough. RIAR RED raced on the outside from the start. EL OSUNA, under stout handling, came around PIQUANT to wrest the lead leaving the backstretch and just failed to last under hard urging. PIQUANT held on well after being displaced. WAR SPY, slow to settle in best stride, moved up menacingly entering the stretch, but failed to make up ground in the closing drive. CORDON had early speed. TENEBROSE raced on the outside throughout. HADRIAN assumed the lead on the inside on the lower turn, saved ground thereafter and drew out swiftly in the final quarter. HOULGATE was permitted to settle into best stride, responded to urging to improve position leaving the backstretch, but was unable to menace the winner. JUSTA NOTE raced closest to the pacemaker for three furlongs, ihen weakened. DOLLY VARDEN was unable to keep up early, was taken to the inside near the furlong pole and closed willingly. MYSTERY BOOK forged to the front at the start, was taken in hand when GREY FLARES moved through on the inside to wrest the lead nearing the half-mile pole, regained the lead when roused midway on the far turn and held sway to the finish under good handling. PAYABLE, a forward factor from the start, forced the pace into the stretch, but was not good enough. SUNGINO, allowed to race on own courage early, rallied well in the stretch. DAMIONS MAID threatened at the furlong pole, but weakened in the drive. CARRIGHATAR weakened in the final eighth. GREY FLARES moved through on the inside to assume the lead midway in the backstretch, then weakened. RAIMENT was done early. Scratched 23365 Venci, 116.
