Start good from flag for all but RANK. Won driving; second and third the same. GENANCOKE followed in close attendance to the early pace, jumped cleanly, displaced RANK when ready and quickly drew out, was in close quarters when a riderless horse crossed the field soon after the last jump, but was best in a hard drive. HIS BOOTS, slow to settle into his best stride, rallied after the ninth jump to close with a bold rush, was also impeded by the riderless horse and, under continued pressure, narrowly missed. RANK, unprepared at the start, was rushed to the front when straightened away, made a bad jump on the fourth fence, but quickly recovered and, while giving way readily to the winner, held on stubbornly in the late stages. KINGS-FIELD was through early. BIG BID gave a dull performance. POINT BLEU, held in reserve during the early running, stumbled while attempting to avoid PHIBLANT and his prostrate rider at the fourth jump, unseating his own rider and, after running through the course, attempted to duck under the rail and was pinned down. PHIBLANT was racing well up when he made a bad landing on the fourth jump and unseated his rider. Scratched— 493424 Darjeeling, 155. FOURTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Dot, Sept. 7, 1923— 1:42/s— 3— 100. LUCK OUT rallied from the outside rounding the turn, was abruptly brought to the rail entering the stretch and was not persevered with in the drive. HOLLY STAR, taken under stout restraint early, responded to pressure in the last quarter and closed a big gap.
