Khyber Pass Displays Speed To Win Bow at Narrqgansett NARRAGANSETT PARK, Pawtucket, R. I., June 15.— Mrs. H. Toffels short-coupled chestnut, Khyber Pass, appeared sleek and fit as he paraded postward for the six-furlong Elm Grove Purse. Reflecting his sharp appearance, Khyber Pass displayed keen speed and assumed command in the early stretch, then maintained a three-quarters length advantage at the finish to make his firct start of the season a successful.one. Mrs. Janet Becks Reigh Jane, who was recently shipped here from Garden. State Park, was the closest to the winner at the wire, passing M. T. Homes Kandy Comfort by three-quarters of a length. Despite his known class, Khyber Pass was overlooked by the majority of the 10,339 patrons, and returned a pleasing mutuel of 4. Time for the event over the fast track was a commendable 1:11%. This must have been a satisfying performance for Mrs. H. Toffel, indicating that TOiyber Pass will be a strong contender in the future handicap and stake offerings to be presented at this course.
