JNITED PRESS . NEWS BRIEFS Takes No Action on Steel Seizure WASHINGTON, D. C, May 26. The Supreme Court took no action today on President Trumans seizure of the steel industry. The high bench recessed after handing down several other decisions. Its next regular decision day is Monday, June 2, but the court could announce a ruling before then. Allied Commanders Step Up Patrols SEOUL, Korea, May 26. Sharp fighting flared at several points along the 155-mile Korean ground front today and allied battlefield commanders stepped up their patrols after rumors of an impending Communist offensive. American sabre jets swept "MIG alley" all the way to the Yalu River boundary of North Korea without sighting Communist MIG-15S planes. They downed four red MIG 15s yesterday and damaged one. Strive to Adjourn Before Conventions WASHINGTON, May 26. Senate Democratic leader Ernest W. McFarland Ariz. told President Truman today that legislative progress in the Senate during the next two weeks will determine whether Congress can adjourn before the political conventions in July. If adjournment is voted by July 7 opening date of the Republican National Convention the Senate will have to do considerably more work in the next six weeks than it has done in the last five months. Joins Against Red Aggression BONN, Germany, May 26. Western Germany joined the Western Allies today in a historic pact against Russian aggression. The United States, Great Britain and France signed a separate peace treaty with the Bonn Republic. Under it 48,000,000 Western Germans, enemies of the allies in World War n, get back most of their sovereignty. Ridgway Receives Korean Service Medal UNITED NATIONS, N. Y., May 26. Gen. Matthew B. Ridgway today received the United Nations Korean service medal and voiced a warning against "the sinister and secret design of those men who would destroy liberty and who deny truth every day that they live." Order Demonstration Against Ridgway PARIS, France, May 26. The powerful French Communist party issued orders to its shock troops today to march against Gen. Matthew B. Ridgway when he arrives here tomorrow to take over as supreme commander of the. North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The Communists ordered demonstrators against Ridgway to clog the Paris boulevards and hinder the official government welcome. McHale Resigns Democratic Post INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., May 26. Frank McHale resigned today as chairman of the credentials committee for the Democratic National Convention, a week .after he was ousted by the Indiana party organization as a member of the national committee. Red Execute 115 of Own Number KOJE ISLAND, Korea, May 26. Communist war prisoners on Koje Island, have killed at least 115 of their own number after Kangaroo court martials since July 2, it was disclosed today. The victims were condemned for various offenses by kangaroo courts martial and "executed." Lang Heads NLRB Division WASHINGTON, D. C, May 26. The National Labor Relations Board today appointed Arthur H. Lang, veteran federal official, as director of the division of Administration to replace Carroll K. Shaw. Lang has been assistant director of the division for three years and is also the boards personnel director. Rdme Sayed From Communist Rule ROME, Italy, May 26. Italys Democratic parties scored unexpected gains in the south today and Premier Alcide de Gasperi saidhe believed the Christian Democratic coalition also won in Rome and saved the city from Communist rule.
